    There was a further high turnover in players as Star entered the East Superleague for what would be the last time in a season of big change.

    The season started well with a 2-0 win over Dundonald Bluebell followed by a battling 0-0 draw with Bonnyrigg Rose. A young squad was starting to develop, but a 7-2 thrashing by Broxburn Athletic was a blow to confidence. Nonetheless, the team were putting enough points on the board to suggest that there would be no relegation threat come the end of the season.

    The Scottish Junior Cup saw Star record wins over East Craigie and Cumbernauld United. The fourth round draw threw up an away trip to Bonnyrigg Rose. Star went down 5-2.

    As the season progressed, other clubs in the East Juniors began to announce that they were following Kelty Hearts' lead and joining the East of Scotland League. Star were beginning to look isolated and eventually the members of Newtongrange Star voted to leave Junior football behind and join the East of Scotland League.

    Star ended the season with a run to the final of the Fife & Lothians Cup. After overcoming Penicuik Athletic on penalties in the semi-final, they faced Bonnyrigg Rose in the final, who ultimately proved too strong and Star went down 5-1.
