    With no team relegated from the Superleague and Camelon promoted from the previous season, the number of league games was reduced further to only sixteen.

    The League Cup had returned to a league format to add some additional games to the season, although none of the Superleague teams took part.

    The Star stormed through their group section by winning all six matches, including an 8-1 win over hapless Stoneyburn. The semi-final did not take place until March when the Star's form had changed considerably. A 2-0 defeat to Broxburn Athletic was the result.

    In the Scottish Junior Cup, the Star were strangely drawn against teams from Ayrshire. Firstly, the Star defeated Annbank United 2-0 with two goals from Scott Brown. The Star were then drawn at home to Irvine Meadow who left New Victoria Park with a 1-1 draw. The Star's goal came from Lindsay Stewart. Meadow would be considered favourites on their own ground, but the Star put in a wonderful performance to secure a 3-2 win with goals from Stewart, Munro and John Stanton. A fourth round home tie against Lugar Boswell Thistle would seem like a good draw and with the Star leading 1-0 through Chris Laird all looked well. The Ayrshire side fought back though and secured a 3-1 victory.

    After the Scottish Junior Cup exit, the Star's form rather fell away and the team could only manage fourth place in the league, ten points behind league winners Whitburn

    The Star did put up a good showing in the East of Scotland Cup. The team travelled up to Tayside to face Superleague side and reigned Scottish Junior Cup holders Carnoustie Panmure. The match finished goalless and the Star triumphed on penalties. The semi-final meant a meeting with another Superleague team in the shape of Bathgate Thistle. Goals from Bob Baillie and Kevin Milne gave the Star a 2-0 win and took them through to the final of the East of Scotland Cup where they met Linlithgow Rose at Carmuirs Park, Camelon. In a close game, the Star lost 1-0 to continue their barren spell without a trophy.
