    The season began as usual with the League Cup. The Star though started slowly and a 5-2 defeat to Penicuik Athletic was a particularly poor result. On the back of this reverse, Star manager Gordon Rae decided to resign. He was replaced by former Meadowbank Thistle, Alloa Athletic and Stenhousemuir player, Graeme Armstrong.

    There was a disappointing early exit in the Scottish Junior Cup in the second round at home to Vale of Leven as the Star went down to a single goal defeat.

    The goalposts were shifted somewhat by the ERSJFA when it was decided mid-season to carry out league reconstruction at the end of the season. A new inter-region league was to be formed between the regional leagues and the Superleague. A place in the top four would secure a place in the higher leagues. The Star's challenge rather fizzled out though. Only winning one home game ultimately proved too costly to mount a challenge and the team finished only seventh.

    The Star did have a good run in the Fife & Lothians Cup defeating Tranent, Lochore Welfare and Broxburn Athletic before losing in the semi-final to a very good Kelty Hearts team.

    The Star did go one better and reached the final of the Dechmont Forklift Cup, but Superleague side Bonnyrigg Rose proved too strong at a windy Albyn Park, Broxburn as they secured the cup with a 3-1 win. Graeme Newall scored the Star's goal.

    A testimonial was held for long-serving players David Buchan and Kevin Milne.
