    The Star were looking to go that little bit better after the previous season's frustrating brushes with glory. Consequently the Star started the season in blistering form, reaching the League Cup final without conceding a single goal. Indeed, the team did not concede a goal in the final either, but were also unable to score one. Bonnyrigg Rose won the ensuing penalty shoot out and denied the Star the silverware. The final was played at Arniston Rangers' Newbyres Park, a venue the Star returned to for their second cup final at the end of the season in the Doug n' Al Cup against Whitburn. Again the result was disappointment with Whitburn running out comfortable 4-1 victors. The Star's consolation came from Stevie Rixon who at least managed to secure the distinction of scoring in every match the Star played in the competition.

    The Star started the league campaign also in good form with wins over Harthill Royal (1-0), Whitburn (3-1), Fauldhouse United (2-0) and Camelon (3-1). Defeats to the two Roses, Bonnyrigg and Linlithgow followed as the Star started to stutter a little.

    However, there was another good run in the Scottish Junior Cup to enjoy. Wins over former cup winners Camelon, Hill of Beath and Cumnock led to a fifth round meeting with another former Scottish Junior Cup holder, Kilwinning Rangers, at New Victoria Park. The impressive Ayrshire side led 2-0 with only a few minutes to play. Alex Finlayson got one back for the Star before the Kilwinning Rangers goalkeeper denied a clear goal scoring opportunity, conceded a penalty and was sent off. Stevie Rixon dispatched the penalty to earn a replay that the Star would ultimately lose 5-3.

    After a few mixed results, the Star were a little off the pace by the conclusion of the league, finishing fourth. Whitburn were champions finishing a huge 11 points ahead of the chasing pack.
