    Before the season got underway, Star took on Arniston Rangers in the inaugural Ritchie McCaul Memorial Shield. Star would win 5-3 in an occasion that paid tribute to the memory of Ritchie McCaul who had given so many years of service to both clubs. He had died in February 2023 at the age of just 54.

    Manager Paul Milligan promoted 6 players from the successful 2022/23 Newtongrange Star Under 20s side along with bringing in 4 other players all under 23 years of age.

    Inconsistency would prove to be the word for the opening weeks of the season with a mixture of good and bad results as the youthful squad began to find their feet at East of Scotland League level. There were three defeats in the opening four league fixtures as well as early exits in the Scottish Cup, South Challenge Cup and East of Scotland Qualifying Cup. However, from late September began an impressive run of results that saw the team go 13 matches unbeaten and at one point sit top of the league table.

    Promotion was still a clear possibility in the final months of the season, but defeats to Arniston Rangers and twice to eventual league champions Dunipace proved crucial and ultimately saw the team finish in 5th place for the second successive season. Nonetheless, with such a young squad there was much to be enthused by looking ahead to the 2024/25 season.
