    The Covid-19 pandemic would continue to affect the 2020/21 East of Scotland League season. The season would not commence until October with all matches played behind closed doors and lots of doubt around whether the league would ever be finished. The situation put a lot of strain on club finances, but many adapted and began showing matches live on various internet platforms.

    Manager Chris King had overhauled the Star team that had ended the 2019/20 season at the bottom of the table. He brought in many young players, injecting much-needed energy and youth to the side. There was a return to the club for Craig O'Reilly who had previously played for Star from 2012 to 2014. His experience alongside club captain Adam Nelson would be essential to so many young players.

    By Christmas, Star had enjoyed 5 league wins from 12 matches, one more win than the 22 games of the curtailed 2019/20 season. There was much to be enthused by. Home wins over Whitehill Welfare and Penicuik Athletic and an away win at Musselburgh Athletic were probably the most notable.

    In cup competition, Star made an early exit in the South Challenge Cup, going down 2-0 at Bonnyrigg Rose.

    Star made club history though with a first ever Scottish Cup match, although the occasion was somewhat dampened with the lack of supporters. The team took on Highland League side Rothes in the first preliminary round. The Highlanders would run out 4-0 winners though.

    Football was suspended again just at the end of 2020 and eventually on 11th April 2021, the season was declared null & void.
