    The Star squad was further boosted with the signing of Kris Renton from Bonnyrigg Rose and former Hearts player Craig Thomson from Arniston Rangers.

    The stronger squad started the season well and remained unbeaten for 3 months. They then faced a trip to face Kelty Hearts who having almost been relegated the season before, were now flying high at the top of the table. Star lost and Kelty continued their run towards a first Superleague title. Star stayed close, but suffering a second defeat to the Fife side in March meant any title hopes were gone.

    There was a longer run in the Scottish Junior Cup than in recent years. There were comfortable wins over Scone Thistle, Greenock Juniors and Maud before the Star faced Blantyre Victoria. Star took an early lead, but goalkeeper Keiron Renton was sent off and Vics scored twice to threaten a shock win. It took an equaliser from Sean Jamieson to set up a replay in Lanarkshire. The replay was just as competitive, but Star got a lead and never let go to reach a 5th round meeting with Shettleston. Again, a competitive match that saw the hosts win 2-0 with Kris Renton receiving a red card on an afternoon to forget.
