    Some of the players who been part of the Star's rise up the leagues under Graeme Armstrong departed in the summer, leaving manager Alan Miller with the task of building a squad largely from scratch. Consequently, it was to be a season of inconsistency.

    The season start well, a battling draw with Superleague Musselburgh Athletic in the League Cup followed by 5 wins gave Star first place in the group. A semi-final victory took Star into the League Cup final, but Linlithgow Rose proved to be too strong.

    The league saw Star record mostly wins over teams in the bottom half of the league, which at least meant relegation was not a threat. However, there was no challenge at the top end of the table, despite securing two 1-1 draws with eventual champions Sauchie.

    The Scottish Junior Cup saw a narrow win over Aberdeenshire side Longside in the first round before a Star were drawn at home to neighbours Bonnyrigg Rose in the second round. The match ended goalless and set up a replay the following week. Star took the lead in the second half through Blair Tolmie, but Rose scored twice to win the tie.

    Towards the end of the season, Shaun Woodburn was sold to Bonnyrigg Rose. Star spent the money on bringing Chris King from Musselburgh Athletic to the club.
