    The official opening of New Victoria Park took place on the 30th of July with a match against Auchinleck Talbot (left). The Star won the game 2-0 with both goals from new signing Malky Adams. The victory over one of the biggest clubs in Junior football perhaps suggested the success of recent years would also be brought to the new ground. In truth, the season was to provide very few highlights.

    The Star scraped through the League Cup group section. In the last game, the Star needed to defeat Dalkeith Thistle by two goals to pip Arniston Rangers on goal difference. Two goals from Adams and a penalty from goalkeeper Carswell secured a 3-0 win only for the Star to lose 2-1 in the quarter-final to Linlithgow Rose.

    The other cup competitions also proved to be disappointing with early round defeats to Second Division opposition coming in the East of Scotland Cup and Pendrich Steeplejacks Cup.

    There was also another 'shock' Scottish Junior Cup exit. The Star travelled to Perth to face local side Kinnoull. An early penalty from Paul Ramsay gave the Star the lead. Kinnoull were then awarded a penalty that goalkeeper Frank Houston saved, but the men from Perth would not be denied and earned a replay with a goal ten minutes from time. The Star clearly expected to progress, but after 90 minutes the game was goalless. Two Kinnoull goals in extra-time gave the Star a mountain to climb. Mark Reed got one back in the last minute, but there was no time for an equaliser. The Star had therefore lost their first ever Scottish Junior Cup match at New Victoria Park as well as losing the last one at Victoria Park.

    The Star finished third in the league, but were not in contention for the title as the season drew to a close. Camelon and Whitburn dominated the league and also contested the Scottish Junior Cup final with Camelon prevailing on both occasions.

    John Buckley, the manager who had brought so much success to the club, decided to step down. He was replaced by his assistant Ronnie Tolmie. Kevin McColl, the Star's club captain, had also decided to retire at the start of the season. Despite moving to a new stadium, there was a sense of the end of an era in the air.
